WORKSHOPS and TUITION
I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1986 with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting and since then I have been a practising artist, exhibiting in the UK and abroad for over 40 years. I teach watercolour and drawing at venues in the central belt of Scotland.
I also offer 1-to-1 tuition at my home or peripatetically and am happy to discuss content with you. I cater for all levels of ability. Please let me know if you are interested in some watercolour or drawing tuition by filling in the contact form. Contact me for more information.

Floral Tulip Art Workshop, Cromlix Hotel
Floral Art Workshop: My friend and fellow-artist Lucy Freeman and I are teaching a ‘Floral Art Workshop: Watercolours and Embroidery’ at Kim and Andy Murray’s Cromlix Hotel on 13 April 2025. Places are limited to 12 and tickets are £130 per person. The day will include both watercolour and contemporary embroidery tuition. Working in the hotel garden and stretch tent (indoors if the weather is inclement), Lucy and I will be demonstrating our techniques and there will be plenty of time for students to practise. We will be on hand to give help and advice throughout the day. Refreshments and a 2-course set lunch (in the Garden Room if we’re cold!) from the Cromlix kitchen will be included in the ticket price, as will all materials. In March 2024 Cromlix was named as one of The Times ‘Best Places to Stay’ in the ‘Best Countryside Hotels’ category and took first place in the Luxury category in ‘Scotland’s Greatest Escape’, which is available to see on BBC iPlayer. ‘Flowers and Foliage in Watercolour’ will comprise of 6 sessions beginning on Thursday 20 August 2026, 10:15 – 12:45 at the Hub@531. £225, each class will start with a demonstration by myself, followed by time for students to do their own paintings from fresh flowers, during which I will be available for practical advice. Tea/coffee part way through. Suitable for beginners.

‘Cityscapes’ will comprise of 6 sessions in a variety of media beginning on 1 September 2026, 10:00 - 12:30 at the Welcome Station, Balerno. £240, each class will start with a demonstration by myself followed by time for students to do their own painting/drawing during which I will be available for practical help.
